In additional to supporting state, national and international Rotary efforts, the Keosauqua Rotary Club is involved in numerous local activities.

Scholastics Banquet

One of Keosauqua Rotary's long standing projects is its annual Scholastic Banquet. The first banquet was held in April of 1957 and honored the top 10 students of each high school class at the Van Buren Community School District. The tradition continues to this day. Students are introduced by their class sponsor and then given the opportunity to share details about their high school experience and future plans.

Multi-Occ Student Luncheon

The Keosauqua Rotary Club hosts an annual Vocational Dinner to honor the senior Multi-Occupational students from Van Buren Community High School. This long standing program, which is a partnering of school and local businesses, has been extremely successful and is a model for the state. The Keosauqua Rotary is proud to recognize those students and businesses involved in this important program.

Youth Merit Award Scholarship

Keosauqua Rotarians annually present a senior boy and senior girl from both Van Buren and Harmony Community School Districts with a Youth Merit Award that recognizes their qualities of service, dependability and leadership with a monetary scholarship.

Rotary Youth Leadership

Each year, two Van Buren Community High School sophomores are chosen to attend a Rotary Youth Leadership Conference

Senior Citizens Christmas Dinner

This event, sponsored by the Keosauqua Rotary Club, was first held on December 19, 1970, and continues to be a highly popular annual tradition to this day. The catered meal is served by Rotarian members and spouses, with holiday music and group singing of Christmas carols by both Rotarians and their guests.

Other Recent Projects

Other Keosauqua Rotary Projects include donation of a new Van Buren Community Jr-Sr. High School Trophy case, annual participation in Bike Van Buren, helping organize the annual Fall Festival Parade, name the grand marshal of the parade, restoration and placement of historic photos in the Old Van Buren county courthouse . . . . and more.
